Lexus Song Quest

The Lexus Song Quest (formerly the Mobile Song Quest) is New Zealand’s most prestigious song contest. Since 1956 it has provided a platform for many talented New Zealand singers including Dame Kiri Te Kanawa  and Dame Malvina Major, to launch their international opera careers.

The Foundation has supported the competition since 2012 by providing funding to help secure distinguished Chief Judges ( 2012 - Dennis O’Neill and 2014 - Kathryn Harries). In addition the Foundation presents the Lexus Song Quest Masterclasses led by the Chief Judge and including 16 Song Quest entrants in the four main centres of New Zealand. At the conclusion of the tour the Chief Judge announces the Kiri Te Kanawa Scholarship ($15,000 for travel & international study) to the singer judged to have outstanding potential for an international singing career. In 2014 the award was given to Bianca Andrew.
